The Safety Gear Checklist Most Small Crews Skip
Bigger crews usually have someone whose whole job is safety compliance. Small crews don't, it's the owner, juggling everything, and safety gear is the thing that gets checked last, if at all.
The gaps I see most: harnesses that never get inspected between uses, gloves that are the wrong rating for what the crew's actually handling, and a first-aid kit that hasn't been restocked since whoever bought it originally. None of that shows up as a problem, until the one day it does, and by then it's too late to fix cheap.
A real checklist doesn't need to be complicated. Inspect harnesses before every use, not just when something looks off. Match glove and PPE ratings to the actual job, not whatever's already in the truck. Restock the first-aid kit on a schedule, not "whenever someone notices it's empty."
I carry commercial-grade safety gear because I'd rather a crew have the right equipment than the cheapest equipment. If you're not sure what your crew's actually missing, tell me what you're running day to day and I'll help you figure out the real gaps, not just sell you a list.
